Answers to the most common travel and vacation planning questions

General FAQs

How are travel agents paid?

Destinations like Disney, Universal, and other resorts, know that a well planned trip means a more enjoyable trip. Because of this, they build in a commission fee for qualified travel agents who assist clients in booking these adventures. This fee is part of nearly every hotel, ticket, and tour cost, and is always paid by customers whether they utilize a travel agent or not. Yes, even when you book yourself through discount travel sites. These commissions are paid to us by the provider AFTER you complete your travel. Sometimes commissions alone are sufficient for the work of our agents and an additional planning fee is waived. Other times planning fees are necessary to adequately compensate our agents for their time and expertise.

When a Planning Fee is appropriate?

In some cases we will charge a planning fee: if a client has booked on his or her own and is not eligible to transfer their booking to one of our agents; when a custom vacation is planned; when a client wishes to consult with an agent, but book on their own; or for certain group travel arrangements, among others. In these instances a commission will either not be paid or will not be sufficient to compensate our agents for their time and expertise. Any planning fee will always be discussed with you by our agents prior to commencement of the planning process.

Do you coordinate group travel?

We do! Whether “group” means two families, a school group, or room blocks, our agents are experienced with large crowds. Group travel can be as simple as coordinating your whole group’s travel, but sometimes we are also able to find specially discounted rates. Group travel will have an associated planning fee, which will be discussed with you by your agent prior to any work commencing.

Can you book my airline or train tickets?

We can, and are happy to book airline and train tickets; however, a Ticketing Fee will apply. To book on your own we recommend tracking pricing on Google or your favorite flight tracking site.

Do you book any international destinations?

Yes! Whether you want an all inclusive adventure or a less structured vacation, we can help with everything from concierge trips including personal tour guides around the world, to booking individual hotels, adventures, and excursions.

Why should I choose to use a travel agent rather than book on my own?

Nothing can ruin a trip quicker than no or poor planning. Our agents are passionate about serving our clients in helping you plan your adventure, because we know the memories from a well-planned adventure will last a lifetime. We also recognize that for many this may be your first, or only, trip to a specific destination, and we want to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.

I'm a frequent traveler and prefer booking my own hotels and travel packages. Can I still consult with an agent to develop an itinerary?

Absolutely! While it is always our preference to help you book start to finish, we know there are times when that is not possible or just not preferred. In those circumstances our experience can still help you plan the perfect adventure, for a modest fee.

Are there any restrictions on whom you can take on as clients?

We are able to work with clients all over the United States, except for residents of California (due to California requirements). We can also work with Canadian citizens, however all arrangements must be paid in US Dollars.

Where are you located?

Our agents are located in South Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, Texas, and Alabama, but serve clients all across the country. We are registered in both the State of South Carolina and the State of Florida (Florida Seller of Travel #ST42336).

Can I book an all-inclusive resort through your agency?

Yes! We work closely with Sandals, Beaches, Excellence, Karisma, Miraval, Margaritaville, and other amazing resorts across the US, Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America.

Can you help me book a fully-guided tour?

Yes! We work closely with Adventures by Disney, Tauck, and many other wonderful tour providers.

DISNEY FAQs

What services do you provide?

We will help you select the perfect travel itinerary for your group! Your travel plans will include multiple components such as the best hotel match, ticket configuration, dining options, Lightning Lane education and strategy, and even special experiences within and around the parks. We always utilize Disney’s best current pricing, while also watching for future promotions that can help your money stretch further. We apply our years of research and expertise to personalize your trip, including lots of park tips, strategies, and even personalized itineraries. Each Disney adventure is unique, and we work hard to tailor our recommendations to match your preferences.

How do you keep up with all the changes?

The first requirement to being an agent for Favorite Day Adventures is a love of Disney! This means that our agents are committed to visiting the parks, Disney Cruise Line, and other Disney destinations, and using those experiences to offer the best information to our clients. On every trip our agents try multiple new things - rides, restaurants, treats, hotels, and entertainment - to share new insights with our clients. In addition to experiential education, we work directly with Disney to learn as much as we can about each of the amazing products they offer.

Are your services really complimentary with my package booking?

Yes, the majority of the time there is no additional cost for our services when you book a ticket and hotel package through us!

How is that possible?

When you book through us, Disney pays us a commission after your travel is completed. This amount is built into the price of the trip components regardless of whether you utilize an agent or not. As a result, there is no increased cost to you when booking a package through one of our an agents.

Is it cheaper to book the trip myself?

No, Disney has a built commission on all their products regardless of whether you use an agent or not. Additionally, when you do not use an agent, you lose access to all the ways in which we guide and serve our clients, costing you precious money and time in the long run.

How much does it cost to book a Disney package and how do I pay?

All Disney World and Disneyland packages require a refundable $200 deposit. You can cancel your trip for any reason up until 30 days before you check in and receive a full refund. All payments are processed to your credit card directly through Disney. Payments may also be made with Disney gift cards. You are not required to make any additional payments until the balance is due 30 days before you travel. However, if you wish to make payments along the way, our agents will work with you to set up a payment schedule.

What if I only need tickets or a hotel, but not a full package?

Ticket-only purchases are non-refundable and must be paid in full at the time of purchase. Room-only reservations generally require one night’s deposit, with the balance due at the time of check-in. We are happy to serve our clients booking either of these stand-alone components. Depending on the other components of your trip, a Planning Fee may be required to make sure our agents are properly compensated for their time and expertise.  – still working on this one

What is the perfect age to take your child to Disney?

Every family is different, and you will see children of all ages, including newborns. We would love to talk to you about whether your children are ready for the type of vacation you want to enjoy. Things to consider are: potty training; naps; height minimums; overstimulation; and fear of characters.

Is Dining Plan worth buying?

The Disney Dining Plan returned in 2024! As to the worthiness of the purchase, sometimes yes, and sometimes no. Our agents will walk through your eating preferences, your budget, and whether you prefer to pre-pay for most of your food expenses, to help determine whether a Dining Plan is right for your family.

Where do I stay?

Disney World has 26+ resorts! This is one of the hardest questions when deciding on a Disney vacation. Our agents will provide you with a summary of the categories and then make a suggestion based on your needs and preferences. Chances are high that one of our agents has stayed at the resort(s) you are considering and we can help you with specific details! Disney properties provide extra benefits including: access to extended park hours; early access to Lightning Lane purchases, discounted MagicBands, complimentary transportation within the parks, access to the Dining Plans, and numerous other benefits, making these options our first recommendation!

Do I have to stay at a Disney property to book with you?

You do not. There are numerous accommodations in the area, including several that provide access to Early Theme Park Entry. We are excited to help you choose the best resort for your family!

Do I need the Park Hopper, Park Hopper Plus, or any other ticket add-ons?

No; we want to match you to the correct ticket for your vacation needs. We will only recommend any any of these if we think it will help maximize your Adventure.

What is Memory Maker?

Memory Maker is the photo package that Disney provides for anyone visiting the parks. Imagine an army of cameras and professional photographers strategically placed in the most popular photo spots, and on the most popular rides, with the ability to download those photos directly to your My Disney Experience account. This system allows all group members to get into the photo, and helps eliminate worries about the quality of photos from a personal camera or phone. Just like most things with Disney, they sometimes even add a little bit of magic to your photos!

Can you help me celebrate a birthday or anniversary at Disney?

Yes! Disney can make any celebration an extra special event. Our agents have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and even beating cancer at the parks! We can recommend those perfect extra touches to create an amazing occasion. Make your special day your Favorite Day!

Do you have any advice for families traveling with food allergies, special dietary needs, or other special needs?

Yes! We have agents with special dietary needs, mothers of children with various special needs, and experience helping clients with unique challenges. Disney treats all of these needs  seriously, and we will help communicate with them the specifics and develop a game plan so your trip can be as stress-free as possible.

Can you help me with airport transfers, renting a scooter or stroller, travel insurance, and other components?

Yes! We are happy to make recommendations or to book these extras for you directly.

Disney Cruise LINE FAQ

What is included in a Disney Cruise?

In addition to your stateroom, all fees and taxes, almost everything! All onboard entertainment, including everything from Broadway-caliber production shows, deck parties with fireworks, first-run movies, character interactions, and award-winning kids clubs. Virtually all meal options, including: rotational dining; themed dinners; buffets casual dining; 24-hour room service; all fountain drinks, tea, regular coffee; and various snacks and soft-serve ice cream. Bahamian and Caribbean Cruises also include a stop at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay, where many activities are included in your fare.

What is not included in the price of my Disney Cruise?

The only things not included are alcohol, tips and gratuities, specialty port excursions (range in price from $12-$10,000 with most in the $50-$300 range), spa services, adult exclusive dining and special activities such as Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and Sports Simulators. There are plenty of free activities to keep you busy during your cruise without spending extra money.

Isn’t Disney Cruise Line just for families with children?

DCL is awesome for all families, even adults traveling alone. There are wonderful adult-exclusive restaurants, the night-time district, fitness center, spa, and several pool and spa areas. Disney prides itself on providing amazing experiences to all its guests, whether children or adults.

Why is the price so much more for a Disney Cruise compared to other cruise lines?

Most cruise lines have casinos, which generate enough money to make up the difference in the cruise fare. Those cruise lines also charge extra for many different activities. On a Disney cruise, there are many free activities happening at any given time. Sometimes it’s difficult to decide which activity to attend! Disney Cruise Line continuously wins awards for being both the best family cruise and the best large cruise line in the world.

When is the best time to book a cruise?

Disney cruise prices, like all other cruise lines, are based on supply and demand. Most cruises will be the least expensive the day Disney releases them. It’s best to book as soon as you know your dates!

How much does it cost to book?

You must make a 20% deposit to hold a cruise. However, this amount is refundable until your final cruise payment is due (varies based on your cabin level and current policy, but typically 105-120 days before sailing).

What is a placeholder cruise booking?

A placeholder booking is a deposit that is made while onboard a Disney cruise that includes a discount towards a future cruise. You do not have to have a certain date in mind when purchasing the placeholder deposit but you do have to cruise within 24 months of your current sailing.

I don’t love small spaces and like to stay busy; would I enjoy a cruise?

Yes! We have clients that dread going on a cruise because they are scared of feeling cooped up. Fear not! Disney Cruise Line’s staterooms are some of the largest in the industry, and between the multiple activities and the large size of the ship, you will have a wonderful time.

What excursions should I book?

Every port, including Disney’s Castaway Cay, has excursions that range in price from free, to $10,000, and everywhere in between. Based on your travel goals, budget, and ages of those in your travel group, we will make suggestions for excursions. You do not have to spend money to get off the ship and enjoy the various ports.

Booking a cruise is easy, why should I use a Travel Agent?

Booking a Disney Cruise through a travel agent is the same price as booking independently! When you book with us we will handle any issues that might arise, like rescheduling or changing staterooms. We will also share all of our knowledge with you so you don’t have to spend hours and hours researching. We take the hassle out of planning so you can sit back and relax!

Do you work with any other cruise lines?

Yes! We are currently booking for Royal Caribbean, Silversea, Regent Seven Seas, Princess, Norwegian, Holland America, Celebrity, Viking River Cruises, AmaWaterways, Virgin Voyages, American Cruise Lines, Carnival, and Cunard cruise lines.
